Brief overview of the Compliance Institute southern Africa (‘the Institute’)

The Institute is the SAQA-recognised professional body for compliance officers. Established in 2003, our mission is to set, maintain and promote best practice standards for the compliance profession by facilitating professional development and accreditation for its members.

We have a hybrid work model with our offices in Fairland, Johannesburg. We serve the compliance community and strive to make a lasting impact on the compliance profession. Our key programs include professional designations and compliance standards, and we partner with stakeholders at all levels to advance our goals.

1. Strategic leadership and vision

Set the strategy and direction with the Board and lead the implementation of the strategy

2. Manage board and governance committees’ engagement in these key areas:

Public officer and Company secretarial duties: Ensure that all governance requirements and company secretarial duties of the Institute as an NPC are met.

Planning: Collaborate with Board and governance committee chairs to finalise the annual year-planner, meeting agendas, Annual General Meeting and everything that it entails (e.g. Board Nominations etc.), reporting and communication

Reporting and communication: Act as liaison between Institute staff, governance- and other operational committees and the Board to ensure that there is a flow of relevant information, reporting and engagement.

Policies and controls: Ensure that there are effective policies, internal controls and management information systems in place.

Compliance and risk management: To assess the principal risks of the Institute and to ensure that these risks are being adequately monitored and managed.

3. Stakeholder engagement and advocacy

Represent the Institute, manage and maintain solid and amicable relationships with stakeholders, other professional bodies, members and member organisations as well as the marketing and advertising of the Institute.

4. Financial oversight and sustainability

Oversee and deliver the Institute’s performance.

5. Operational and programmatic excellence

Oversee the holistic operation of the institute in accordance with the direction established in the strategic plans. This includes the following functional areas: Membership; Education, Training and Professionalism (ETP); Products and services; Marketing, events and sponsorships; Information Technology (IT); Operational excellence

6. Team leadership and development

Develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability and ensuring that the Institute’s values are applied consistently at all levels.

Perform all other duties as reasonably assigned and required by the role
